It's a Dangerous (Snowy/Icy) World
So I fell for the first time all winter tonight. It snowed a few inches more and i slipped on the ice/snow/hill and landed on my okole. (For those of you unfamiliar with the Hawaiian language, that means I fell on my posterior...) It hurt a lot. It's a dangerous place, this snowy land. The End.

I'm a stand-up comedian?
You'll never believe this, but I'll tell you anyway.
Tonight we (College Union) hosted "Air Jam," a lip-syncing, air guitar contest. As hosts, we were responsible for getting the acts on and off stage, setting up props, and announcing each act. Close to the end of the show, the next act was missing a person and they pleaded with us to stall. So Courtney comes back stage and says, "Ashley, go tell jokes." So I went on stage.
Yes, I'm serious.
I got out there, in front of 800+ people and realized my worst nightmare/greatest dream had been realized. I was so nervous.
"Um, they want me to tell jokes," was what I started out with. Then with hands shaking, I began with the first joke to pop in my head - one I made up last weekend.
"What did the hand say to the mitten? Will you be my glover?" Then they booed. (Don't worry, I'm used to the negative responses; it didn't faze me.)
"Knock Knock."
"Who's there?" they all responded in 800 person unison.
"Britney Spears"
"Britney Spears who?"
"Knock Knock"
"Who's there?"
"Oops, I did it again." This time they laughed and cheered.
I cut my losses and walked off stage. What a hilarious moment. I can't believe I did that. Most hilarious story of the week... maybe the month. Last semester my photography professor (with an equally bad sense of humor) asked me what I'd do if someone told me to get on a stage and tell jokes. Well, I guess now I know, right?

I can see clearly now...
I have new glasses! Woo! I really like them and, in the tradition of my eighth grade pair, I've worn them pretty much every day so far (until the new-ness wears off and I'll wear them for necessity). :) Maybe too much thought went into that... I don't know. Anyway so per the parental requests, I'm putting up pictures.
ALSO, I just got back from Ottawa (Illinois not Canada, silly) and got to see the ACTUAL SITE of the first Lincoln-Douglas Debates. Oh, how wonderful history is. :) There's also a picture of my making $20 for eating a humongous bite of delicious homemade, chocolate cake. And there's a picture of me and some of my art friends when we went into the city to see some art exhibits. The one behind us is "Paintings Below Zero" which is a 100 foot mural in Millenium Park of colored ice. It looked like really cold stained glass.
Enjoy the pictures! Yay better internet in the Student Activities Office!

To Holly:
I think you and David might be the only ones who read my blog... but anyway, I just finished up my website and I put a picture of me up from your wedding. And well... it's black and white so it looks like I'm getting married! Haha, a few people have said, "Um, what's your picture from??"
Also, it's snowing like crazy outside and super windy. I read online that it's "near blizzard" conditions! Oh WOW! There are huge snowdrifts everywhere and it's 4 feels like -20. This is so intense! Kari's hoping school is cancelled tomorrow... you never know... it's pretty crazy outside.

A Note to Self
First of all, for those of you interested, I have an in-process project uno for my web design class which can be viewed at: ajenda.net/wheaton/hepburn
Second, note to self: just because you're used to sub-zero and itty bitty temperatures doesn't mean 17 degrees is warm enough to not have gloves. Your hands still get really cold. It's true.

Yay! I have a "job" and they want me!
Woo! I just got back from meeting with my "internship coordinator" at Crossway and I'm pretty much all set to go! I need to finish some paperwork, get some signatures, and tie up some loose-ends before I can officially be receiving credit for it. BUT, I went in today and met all the people in the design department (can't remember all the names... too bad) and I'm starting on Wednesday. I'm really excited, minus the fact that I have to convert my college clothes into grown-up-person-i-am-professional clothes - but I've got a few days to work on that. :) I'll be working MW 8-10 and Thursday 8-12. Yay books! I can't wait to see what I start working on. Now if only I prove so invaluable that they decide to pay me... that would be great! One thing at a time, right?

back to shhhcool
Yep, it's that time again... MONDAY time! I made it back to the Wheat and (be proud of me) I am COMPLETELY unpacked. Uh-huh. Completely. And I think that's about all there is to say. First day of school tomorrow... one of the best parts of the semester! woo!
