April!

My first thought when I woke up this morning was, "It's Friday!!" My second thought was, "IT'S BIRTHDAY MONTH!!"

I get really excited about my birthday. So much so that at the beginning of March I was excited because March is the month before my birthday month.

And what showed up in my inbox this morning on Friday, the first day of April?? A happy birthday email from DSW. They certainly know how to celebrate birthday month!

It's Aloha Friday...

Okay, it's Thursday. But it's sort of Friday because tomorrow is a holiday! Wooooo! Three. Day. Weekend. Even better is that I get to see friends who are home from all over the world for the holidays. E.g. home from Bangladesh and Moldova. As well as far flung states. Reunion!

I found this column about adjusting to winter in the NYT today and thought it was spot on. I can totally relate. Enjoy!

Last night I went to the Harry Potter midnight showing and I am s o o tired today. However, I think I've finally reached my second wind. Yeehaw! Also, the jittery coffee bugs have finally worked their way out of my system. Ha.

This weekend I'm excited to Christmas shop, see a comedy show, and hang out with Kate's family who is in town for Thanksgiving! Plus, I'm going to start packing for vacation next week! I can't wait!

Hi, I'm alive!

Happy Friday! Did you miss me? (Rhetorical question. Please don't say no!) Life has been busy and full and tiring the last two weeks. I have been storing up lots of pictures and fun things to share but then the amount of things I hadn't posted began to overwhelm me so I just avoided it like the plague. (This is also why my room gets so messy. Sorry about that, Paige!) Hopefully I'll be sharing from my "to-post" list over the weekend - this may include the two book covers I've designed over the last few weeks! My first two! So exciting!

Today I'm full of energy and raring to go. (I'm going to thank the coffee for that.) I've got a whole list of things to get done at work today and I'm going to check, it, off. Yay for a beautiful day! Yay for Friday! Yay for coffee!

Due to copious amounts of traffic (yes, it took me double the amount of time to get downtown) I missed out on my latte this morning. I'm about to head out to the WEEKEND and I'm going to grab myself a decaf. Because even though I'm young and fun, I'm actually old and might probably be in bed by 11. Shhh.

I've got an apartment anniversary party on tap tomorrow (we've been in our place a whole year! let's celebrate!) as well as some bike riding, relaxing, and reading. Friends. Guess what. The Press is closing early today. In 15 minutes. To start our three day weekend off right. This is my favorite.

This weekend will include: friends, sunshine, cook outs, the beach (or "beach" - however you tend to look at Lake Michigan's sandy shore), and other fun things yet to be determined. I can't wait.

Hip-happy Friday! I wish you all a wonderful weekend. It's going to be beach weather here in Chicago (88 degrees on Sunday?!), however I'll be down south hanging out with Dave's family, so the beach will have to wait - for me at least. So far the tentative South Carolina plans involve good 'ole barbecue. Sounds pretty great, right?

[Side tidbit: Dave has informed me that you'll know a good barbecue place by noticing whether the chairs match. If they don't, it's a good place!]

Also, I cannot believe that we're at the tail end of May. What's happening to 2010? It's FLYING by!

Finally, I would like to say that my feet LOVE not being constrained by shoes. Wearing sandals is just their natural element. I'm traipsing around in them right now and my feet couldn't be happier!

Dear Friends,
I am SO SO excited about today. One, it's Friday. Two, I had coffee. Three, it's gorgeous outside (after a really rainy week). Four, I'm leaving work early today so that... Five, I can drive up to Northern Michigan for a wedding! A good friend from college is getting married and it's bound to be a splendid two-day long reunion/festivity/celebration. I can't wait. I'm still enchanted by my new font, pictured here. I decided on a swash-bedecked little "Happy Friday!" for this week and promptly left it on my home computer. So, via "sample text" and the myfonts site... here's a happy friday to you... ministry script style!

I'm off to a mystery birthday date that I CANNOT figure out. I've been given next to NO CLUES and every guess I come up with isn't it. I'll find out in t-minus thirty minutes (maybe), take some photos, and share with you later.

I hope you have a great weekend! My plan is to... relax. And get some errands that didn't happen LAST weekend to happen THIS weekend.

TGIF!

Things I do on Fridays:
- sing in the shower (today it was something like "Crown him with many CROWNS! ba ba ba ba ba baaa")
- Sing while I make my lunch (today it was the black eyed peas)
- Drink something sugary and wonderful from Starbucks (usually a white mocha)
- Celebrate Friday with my train friend, my co-workers, my conductors, and anyone else who will listen to me.
- Buy a (ridiculously overpriced but hey it's Friday) grilled cheese with avocado from the cafe downstairs.
- Catch an early train (only 5 minutes early, but hey, it's something)

Also, this morning my bus driver stopped right before getting on the entrance to the highway in order to let this guy running across the median to get on the bus. It's always so heart-warming when bus drivers are nice like that.

Good Friday

It's WARM and SUNNY here. I ate lunch outside today and when I closed my eyes it (almost) felt like I was at the beach. I think it was the warm breeze and the sunshine. In any event, I'm here to report that my legs are seeing the light of day for the first time in.... I don't know... and they are a wee bit blinding. I hope you are enjoying sunshine as well.

It doesn't seem appropriate to wish you a "happy" Friday today as I traditionally do in light of today's historical, religious, traditional significance. It's Good Friday and that means we commemorate the death of Jesus. In continuing with the Maundy Thursday post yesterday, I thought I'd post the other two stations I designed for my church's Stations of the Cross tonight.
