V-Day post script

I'm kind of addicted to NPR. I love them. These valentines that they put on their website are one of the many reasons why.

See them all here.

I love Adobe

Why? Let me nerd out for a little here. I love Adobe because they created this little feature called "content-aware fill" that is changing my life. Seriously. No longer am I spending hours painstakingly pixel-painting the bleed onto old, ugly covers. Nope. Now I just click a few buttons and BAM, the computer does it for me - BETTER than me. (Which makes me tangentially wonder if I should be afraid of robot computers taking over the world.) Several hours of work just became 7 minutes. I love you, Adobe.

P.S. I've had the hiccups almost all afternoon. Loud ones. Sorry officemates!

The jumping 'i'

I was just sitting at work, doing my thing when I realized that the italic 'i' in Scala looks just like a person jumping for joy. Does it not?

Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm a nerd.

GLOBES!

I love globes. L-O-V-E them. When I find myself in a more semi-permanent home, I'm going to get a really cool one. It's my plan. So naturally I found this video to be the coolest thing ever. HOW GLOBES ARE MADE! Watch and be amazed. I viewed this on mute, so I have no idea if there's talking or narration or anything, but it's still sooo cool.

Typophile Film Festival

A friend sent me this video a while ago, but it came my way again today and I was, once again, in awe of the work done by the BYU art student/professor team. It was created for the opening credits at the 5th Typophile Film Festival. If you haven't seen this yet, you've got to take it in. Everything was done by hand - no CGI!

You can read more about the making of the video here.

Similarly, the BYU team made this video for the 4th Typophile Film Festival. (Both videos won awards.)

a. favorite design

I love these nerdy letterpressed cards by a. favorite design. Actually, I love most of the stuff she makes and sells. And her site is super cute to boot. Check it out. (Plus, Chicago based!)
