You'll never believe this, but I'll tell you anyway.
Tonight we (College Union) hosted "Air Jam," a lip-syncing, air guitar contest. As hosts, we were responsible for getting the acts on and off stage, setting up props, and announcing each act. Close to the end of the show, the next act was missing a person and they pleaded with us to stall. So Courtney comes back stage and says, "Ashley, go tell jokes." So I went on stage.
Yes, I'm serious.
I got out there, in front of 800+ people and realized my worst nightmare/greatest dream had been realized. I was so nervous.
"Um, they want me to tell jokes," was what I started out with. Then with hands shaking, I began with the first joke to pop in my head - one I made up last weekend.
"What did the hand say to the mitten? Will you be my glover?" Then they booed. (Don't worry, I'm used to the negative responses; it didn't faze me.)
"Knock Knock."
"Who's there?" they all responded in 800 person unison.
"Britney Spears"
"Britney Spears who?"
"Knock Knock"
"Who's there?"
"Oops, I did it again." This time they laughed and cheered.
I cut my losses and walked off stage. What a hilarious moment. I can't believe I did that. Most hilarious story of the week... maybe the month. Last semester my photography professor (with an equally bad sense of humor) asked me what I'd do if someone told me to get on a stage and tell jokes. Well, I guess now I know, right?

New career options?
OH. MY. GOSH. That's HILARIOUS!!!!!!!! And for the record, we both laughed at the mitten joke. That's great. You should go on tour. Or make a CD. :-)
Dave 'n Holly

That's my girl!
By the way...I laughed at the mitten joke too. If you make a cd we can laugh till we...well, you know...the next time we're in an LA traffic jam.
